Redwood Hiking Elopement in Byrne-Milliron Forest » Corralitos, California

Jocelyn and Andre don’t like being the center of attention so they opted to elope in the redwoods. After exploring a few parks around the Bay Area, they decided that the remote and dog-friendly park of Byrne-Milliron Forest in Corralitos, tucked deep in the Santa Cruz Mountains, was the perfect spot. We woke up early on a Saturday morning where Jocelyn’s friend Jenny helped her with hair and make-up before she got into her custom gown from East Meets Dress. Once ready, we all set out for our hike with the couple’s dog Bearoness, and their officiant Alex, a good friend and fellow Pokemon Go player. We walked among the towering forest, taking some time to stop of portraits and making sure to leave an offering at the little statute to thank it for the good weather as rain was originally expected in the forecast. We eventually reached a little quiet clearing in the woods under a big redwood tree where Alex shared some sweet words before Jocelyn and Andre exchange vows and rings. Afterwards, we headed to AJ’s Point of View for a stunning overlook of the Central Coast and Pacific Ocean. Toasts of Martinelli’s sparkling apple juice was shared before they took a moment to catch some Pokemon. While there, Alex mentioned that he tried and failed to catch a shiny as an engagement present however he was able to catch one during our toast break! The morning wrapped as we headed back to the parking lot, taking our time to soak in the fresh forest air and bits of sunlight streaming through the canopy. So grateful for Jocelyn and Andre for introducing me to a new redwood forest!
