Rocky Rivera + Otayo Dubb » Long Kiss Goodnight
In addition to weddings, I love taking on photography projects with artists and other creatives. Rocky Rivera is an emcee and journalist from San Francisco who has released three albums (and ten mixtapes with fellow Bay Area artist DJ Roza.) Signed to the independent hip-hop label Beatrock Music, Rocky Rivera’s music blends social justice, feminism and West Coast-style hip hop. And she’s also a friend of mine who I met two decades ago on our first day at Ruckus Magazine. We’ve remained good friends over the years and have started collaborating these past few years on promotional shoots for her writing and music.
This year we worked together to create the album cover for her latest released, “Long Kiss Goodnight” featuring Otayo Dubb. The visuals were inspired by the 1996 action thriller of the same name starring Geena Davis and Samuel L. Jackson. I am so proud of this one and am so happy that the album is finally out now and available on all streaming platforms!
